Squaw Peak August 26th

It seems as though I am trying to get into the mountains as often as possible before the snow comes.
Not that the snow will stop me, but I'd like to go and not worry about freezing my buns off.

Earlier this Spring/end of Winter, DaNae and I went up Rock Canyon looking to get up a snow packed trail. We didn't have much time, so we just agreed that we would go until we had to turn around. Needless to say, we never made it to the top of the mountain, but we sure enjoyed the journey.
This day, we set off on the same trail, minus the snow.
It was a glorious morning with a perfect breeze.
The suns rays peeked over the mountain tops, and snuck through little breaks here and there creating beautiful mountain shadows, and stunning single rays of light.

As we wondered along the trail we were wowed with the colors, and the beauty
 (loved these pink roots.)
The leaves on the trees, as we continued up the mountain, were beginning to change their colors. It always takes my breath away to see the bright reds and oranges amid the vibrant greens.

And this opening where wild flowers might make their home in the spring is now a field of weeds. For me, even the weeds were amazing!
Not quite to the top, we stopped to snap a few pic.'s

 And finally...
The top!
There was a cool flagpole at the very edge of the peak, it was really cool the way it flapped in the wind.

Looking down, it was cool to see the valley.
Here is the Provo Temple...

A Pano of the back side, from the edge of the peak...
The 2.5-3 mile trail, was nearly straight up the entire time.
At the top, we enjoyed another amazing lunch. The solitude was marvelous, as we actually had the whole peak to ourselves.

After a short stay at the top, we began our descent.
It was a bit quicker than the hike up, but still wonderful!
We heard some mountain goats so we stopped to try to find them.
They were pretty camouflaged, but DaNae spotted them on the mountain side.

My hiking boots have taken me on many grand adventures, and have been with me on so many trails.
It saddens me to think that I will need a new pair soon.

As long as my feet will carry me, I will go!
