I did it!

Yesterday marked the end of an 8 week challenge that I was doing with some friends.  The challenge was just for fun, but it was exactly what I needed (apparently)
I began this new year by wanting to eat healthy, and also loose a few pounds.  It was as you might say one of my "resolutions."  After my first week I found out my friends were starting a challenge where you could earn points for doing different things, like drinking 64 oz. of water a day.  There were also points for exercise, eating fruits and veggies, and a few others.  I was excited to get points because I'm a little competitive :)  So I hopped on the bus and started their challenge with them.  It was hard to get all the points at first, but after the first week I was like yeah I can do this.  At about week 5, I was kinda ready to be done, but felt like I still needed to get my points, so I kept trying.  Valentines week was the worst!!!  I totally caved, and ate what ever I wanted (my dad's banana muffins covered in butter were the best!) I did recover from valentines disaster week and this last week I told my self I would go hard, and give it my best.
The end of the story... I almost reached my goal weight, missed it by 1 lb.  In total I lost 17lbs.!!!
My point of this whole long drawn out post, is that I stuck with it for the first time in my life.  I'm so thankful for the challenge group, and the good habits I've got going.  Even though there were no more "points" this morning, I still got my water started, and had a smoothie for breakfast.  I also chose these delicious, (and healthy) lettuce wraps for lunch.
Here's to another 8 weeks when I get back from Hawaii...
Chahooooo!

Early birthday

So, this weekend we went and bought Max his birthday present a little early, o.k. a lot early. (there was a sale).  We're going to be gone on his actual birthday so we figured we better take him to go try it out right away :)
Max got a 10-.22 Ruger semi-auto rifle
While Reece was setting up the gun...

The kids were collecting brass from some previous shooters
Here's the boy on his first attempt
Faker!  He was a pro, nailing nearly every shot dead center.  He's a natural!
We'll probably purchase a collapsible stock so It's easier for him to hold.
Until then, lets set you up on the side of the truck
 ah, ha.  Much better!
Max practiced reloading, even though it was cold outside and hard to push them in with frozen fingers.
Max was a good boy, and let Izzy and Joe take a turn
 Isabel loved it!
I didn't get a picture of Jo-Jo, but here's the three little monkeys
Max even let mom and dad have a turn :)

After we shot Max's gun, Reece had me try out the Ruger L.C.R. 38 special, pretty good kick, because it was so light weight
Then we finished off the day with Reece unloading his Glock 23 (.40 caliber)
We had a really fun afternoon shooting!  The kids loved it and the big kid was in Heaven!!!  I had fun because everyone else was so happy.  Thank you 2nd amendment, for the right to bear arms!
